Finally, it’s showtime as one of the biggest anticipated Bollywood ventures, Kalank is set to hit the screens tomorrow. The magnum opus, which is made on a lavish budget, has garnered excitement among the masses and classes with its power-packed promos and great music. Instead of having a normal Friday release, the makers are bringing their movie two days in advance on Wednesday on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti to utilise the partial holiday of the festival. With no competition and huge screen count, we have predicted the film to open above Rs 20 crore on its first day at the ticket windows. Well, it can reach around Rs 23 crore too, if the film gets positive reviews in the morning shows from movie buffs.
The film will enjoy the extended weekend of 5 days, which also includes the holiday of Good Friday, so being a high-budget venture it’s crucial that Kalank should at least earn around Rs 90 crore in the opening weekend and end its first week around Rs 125 crore. Because on April 26, Avengers: Endgame will come to shatter every possible record at the ticket windows and will not only hamper the business of Kalank in India but also in the international circuits. In fact, the performance of Kalank while competing with Avengers: Endgame will give us a clear picture of its lifetime business.
Talking about the film, it is set in the 1940s and features the ensemble cast of Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Aditya Roy Kapur and Sonakshi Sinha in lead roles. It also stars Kunal Kemmu, Kiara Advani and Kriti Sanon in cameo appearances. The cross-border drama is directed by 2 States helmer Abhishek Varman and is produced under the banners of Dharma Productions, Nadiadwala and Grandson and Fox Star Studios. The music of the film is composed by Pritam, while the cinematography is done by Binod Pradhan.
