The shar pei breed has been around for a long time, since before 1900. Originally, they were called Chinese shar pei because of their origin.
They were first brought to the United States in the 1980s and then became popular around the mid-1990s. Due to their unique look and history, they can be considered a prestigious breed.
Shar pei are known for being strong dogs with strong bites. Because of this, training and socialization is very important when raising a shar pei puppy. They need to be taught what is and is not acceptable behavior.
Their skin can be difficult to train as well due to all the wrinkles on their body. Cleaning in between these wrinkles is difficult so there needs to be a good way to prevent skin issues like bacteria or rashes.
Temperament
The temperament of a puppy is one of the most important things to consider. How the puppy behaves in different situations will be a large part of his/her personality.
Does the puppy tolerate being handled by new people? Does he bark when someone knocks on the door or rings the doorbell? How does he get along with other pets in the home? Is he gentle and kind with children?
These things are very hard to train out of a dog. You can teach them new things, but a dog with a certain temperament will have specific attitudes and behaviors.
A Brindle Shar Pei Pitbull Mix is generally an even-tempered dog. They are not prone to being aggressive or having temper tantrums. This makes them an excellent family pet! They get along well with children and other pets, and they like to be playful and fun.
Size
When looking for a puppy, make sure you check the size of the parents. How big are they? Are they the right size for their breed?
Just like people, dogs come in all different sizes. Small dogs can be easier to handle as a beginner, but not every small dog is a good fit for a beginner.
Some small breeds don’t have much physical strength, and some are more difficult to house train. This can be said about some small dogs that are prone to developing separation anxiety.
On the other hand, larger dogs may be more of a challenge for a beginner due to their size and need for physical exercise. A beginner may not know how to properly exercise a large dog that needs lots of exercise.
A good gauge for whether or not a dog is the appropriate age is eight weeks old.
History
The Shar-Pei is a medium to large dog that originates from China. These dogs have been around for hundreds of years, with documentation showing them in ancient carvings and paintings.
They were used as guard dogs and to hunt wild boar. Shar-Peis were also used as war dogs, protecting soldiers while they were walking and attacking enemy soldiers.
Their tough skin and wrinkles protected them from bites and scratches. Since they were bred as working dogs, they need plenty of exercise and activity to be happy. They are known for being stubborn, so early training is important.
Recently there has been a lot of mixed breeds created with the Shar-pei. A popular one is the Brindle Shar-pei Pitbull mix. This dog is gaining popularity due to their looks and friendly nature. They are referred to as goof balls due to their playful nature.
Fun facts
The Shar-Pei is a breed of dog. It is known for its wrinkles and the strong muscle that it builds underneath. The Shar-Pei was originally used as a guard dog and to hunt birds.
Today, they are loved for their fun personality and adorable face. They are also known for being easy to train. Many people use them as family pets because of this.
Shar-Pei’s come in several colors including red, cream, black, and brindle. Their coats are short and stiff, which makes them perfect for the rough texture of their wrinkles.
Breed mixes
A popular dog breed mix is the golden retriever Labrador retriever. These dogs are very common, and you will see them in many dog parks and professional dog walks.
Many people choose to get a breed mix because they want the look and feature of a different breed without the typical Labrador traits. For example, someone who loves Labs but does not have a lot of space may choose to get a golden retriever instead.
However, just because you get a breed mix does not mean you will get all of the good traits of each breed. It is up to the breeder how well they match up the breeds together to produce pups.
A lot of times, people who are not experts pick out breeds that look similar and end up with different looking dogs that have some issues due to not being matched well.
Would I get one?
At this point in time, I would not get a brindle shar-pei pitbull mix. It is too soon to tell what traits it will have and if it will have behavioral issues.
It is hard to find one and they are expensive due to their rarity. I would wait until more are born and we can see their characteristics and if they have issues before investing in one.
I love the look of this dog and hope that it turns out to be a good breed, but only time will tell. I wish you the best of luck with your new pup!
If you are not interested in getting a brindle shar-pei pitbull mix, that is totally okay! There are so many other beautiful dogs out there that would love your attention.
What would one look like?
A brindle shar-pei pitbull mix would look like a dog with a tan or red coat, black patches or spots, and a smooth, fine texture. The size would depend on which breeds were mixed.
The shar-pei is a small breed, so if a brindle shar-pei pitbull mix was made, it would most likely be a smaller dog. If a larger breed was mixed in, such as an American Staffordshire Terrier, then the size could increase.
Because these are not common breeds to mix, there is not much information on what the pups would look like. The best thing to do is look at pictures of each breed to get an idea of what features they have and how they look.
Brindle is a common color for both the shar-pei and bulldogs, so that feature would stay the same.
Are they aggressive?
This is a common concern when it comes to mixed breed dogs. People worry about how they will behave and if they will be friendly.
Since brindle shar-pei pitbull mixes are not very common, it is hard to say whether or not they are aggressive. However, you can make an assumption based on the parent breeds.
Both the shar-pei and the pitbull are known to be strong, stubborn dogs. When you combine these traits, you get a determined dog that may have a hard time listening.
So while we cannot say for sure if these dogs are aggressive or not, we can tell you that they might have some temperament issues.
