CHE vs BH: Chelsea did at least get the win there, however, and can kick on from that against Brighton when N’Golo Kante and Eden Hazard should return to the side. With those two starting, they are a much-improved proposition and the Blues know they should be beating Brighton at home.
Glenn Murray could cause them problems, but ultimately they have enough quality to see off the Seagulls.Defeat to Cardiff might well have spelled the end for Maurizio Sarri and the same, realistically, is true if they lose to Brighton.
Chelsea Team News
N’Golo Kante and Eden Hazard could return to the Chelsea starting line-up after both being rested on the bench after international duty. The Belgian replaced Pedro and could start ahead of him at the weekend, while Kante – who did not step off the bench – could play in place of Jorginho, who was another subbed off early.
Chelsea Key Players
Eden Hazard – The Blues look a shadow of their best selves when the Belgian is not playing and his return to the starting line-up is imperative.
Willian – Set up the winning goal against Cardiff, which should just give him the nod to join Hazard and Gonzalo Higuain up front.
Gonzalo Higuain – Still has plenty to prove up front for Chelsea, but his goalscoring record throughout his career is unquestionable.
Brighton Team News
Florin Andone returned to training at the start of the week and should be back in some capacity against Chelsea – though that could mean a place on the bench only. Pascal Gross is also due back after injury, having just failed to make the squad at the weekend.
Brighton Key Players
Glenn Murray – Now onto 13 goals for the season and his power and height are sure to cause more problems for the Chelsea defence.
Pascal Gross – Due back from injury, and he has already proved he is a man for the big occasions given his good record against Manchester United.
Jurgen Locadia – Scored his fourth goal of the season in the FA Cup quarter-final and has now firmly established himself alongside Murray.
