Devshayani Ekadashi 2017 Fasting Date & Thithi Time

Ashadha Shukla Paksha Ekadashi is also known as Devshayani Ekadashi. July 4 is the day to celebate Devshayani Ekadashi in the year 2017. It is also known as Padma Ekadashi, Ashadi Ekadashi and Hari Shayani Ekadashi.

According to Hindu mythology, it is believed that on this day Lord Vishnu goes for a sleep and wakes up after four months on Prabodhini Ekadashi. This Devshayani Ekadashi comes afer Jagannath Rathyatra and it mostly falls on the month of June or July on the English calendar.

People who fast for two days are deeply in love with Lord Vishnu, they most do fast to get love and affection of Lord Vishnu who wish to get Moksha. It coincides with the Vaishnava fasting day.

Ekadashi Tithi Ends = 00:29 on 5/Jul/2017

On this day, people following Hindu myths will do fast. This Ekadashi fast will be broken by the people only on next day of Ekadashi fast after sunrise. It is necessary to do Parana within Dwadashi Tithi unless Dwadashi is over before sunrise. Not doing Parana within Dwadashi is similar to an offence.
