IPL 2018: MS Dhoni Back to Chennai Super Kings

IPL 2018: For the past two seasons of Indian Premier League 2018, Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals were in suspension and banned for alleged spot-fixing and betting. The Indian Premier League (IPL) Governing Council has cleared up the issue and therefore Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals will be retained for the upcoming IPL season.

In the Indian Premier League T20 Tournament, Chennai Super Kings will lead by the former captain of India MS Dhoni with whom the team CSK has won IPL title for two teams. In the meeting on Wednesday by IPL governing council along with the Committee of Administrators (CoA) discussed the IPL Player retention policy, salary cap, player regulations and other related issues.

In each IPL team squad, there must be a maximum of 25players and a minimum of 18 players (with eight overseas players). Salary caps have been set at Rs 80 crore for 2017, 82 crores for 2019 and 85 crore for 2020. The minimum spend will be 75 percent of the salary cap for each season. The maximum cap for uncapped cricketers will be Rs 40 lakh.

Due to IPL spot-fixing controversy, the teams Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals were suspended for two years 2016 and 2017 after the Lodha Committee’s verdict. The other two replacement teams were formed Rising Pune Supergiants where Dhoni captaining in 2016 IPL season and Gujarat Lions for the replacement of Rajasthan Royals.

According to the reports, Chennai Super Kings will retain MS Dhoni and Dwayne Bravo. Mumbai Indians will retain Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard, Jasprit Bumrah, and the Pandya brothers (Hardik and Krunal) and also Royal Challengers Bangalore retains Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Chris Gayle but Shane Watson is not confirmed. Sunrisers Hyderabad will retain David Warner and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Delhi Daredevils are not likely to retain any of the players.
