Shimla Municipal Corporation Election Results 2017 – 17 BJP, 13 Congress

Shimla Municipal Corporation Election: Shimla Municipal Corporation was held on last Friday and the counting of votes starts today from 8 AM. It seems that there is a great clash between BJP and Congress in the state. 57.8 percent of the votes were polled in the 34 wards municipal election that held on Friday.

The polling started at 8 am and 14 percent votes were cast by 10 am. Polling percentage went up to 33 percent in the afternoon. It further increased to 47 percent at 2 pm and the overall polling at the end stood at 57.8 percent. 50 percent (17) seats have been reserved for women including three for SC women and three seats are reserved for SC men.

So far as the counting progress is going on, the BJP has won 9 seats so far, while the Congress managed to bag 4 only. Three independent candidates have also won the election. Anand Kaushal, who was supported by Congress, won from ward no 10. Congress-supported Simi Nanda is elected councillor from ward no 11.

The results of Shimla Municipal Corporation elections 2017 have been declared. Out of the 34 wards, Bharatiya Janata Party-supported candidates won in 17 wards. 13 candidates, who had the backing of the Congress, also won the election. A CPI(M)-backed candidate is elected councillor. Three independent candidates also won the election.
