World Population Day Celebration on July 11

World Population Day 2017: Every year World Population Day is celebrated on July 11. On this day, people seek to raise awareness about global population issues. The event was established by the Governing Council of the United Nations Development Programme in 1989. The aim of World Population Day is to increase awareness among people on overpopulation issues such as the importance of family planning, gender equality, poverty, maternal health and human rights.

On an account, the world population is increased by 100 million for every 14 months. The Day was first marked on 11 July 1990 in more than 90 countries. Since then, a number of a number of UNFPA country offices and other organisations and institutions commemorate World Population Day, in partnership with governments and civil society.
