Leila Seth, the first Women Judge of New Delhi High Court who was appointed in 1978 and ranked first in the London Bar exam and she is also the first woman chief justice of a state high court (Himachal Pradesh). Seth was one among the three members of Justice J.S. Verma Committee that were set to re-look the gangrape case in Delhi December 16, 2012.
She died of Cardiac arrest in her home in Noida on Friday around 10:30 PM. She died at the age of 86. She is a mother of famous novelist Vikram Seth. Family members of Leila Seth decided that there will be no cremation and the Leila Seth’s body will be donated to Army research and Referral Hospital New Delhi, for the advancement of Medical Sciences as her wish.

Leila Seth was a retired judge first female judge of New Delhi High Court. She has Admitted in Appolo Hospitals eight months ago and treated for brain Haemorrhage. She has again admitted, treated and discharged two weeks ago in the Appolo Hospital, New Delhi for the femur fracture.
