Kaala theatrical rights has sold to the Lyca Production finally after many expectations. However, the Telugu version of Rajinikanth’s Kaala remains unsold. The maker scheduled to release the movie on April 27. The production house of 2.0 has bought the rights for the whopping price of 125 crores for the same.
The producer of Kaala, actor Dhanush’s upcoming film Vada Chennai also going under Lyca Production. According to the report, the department of distribution thinking to sell the rights of different regions to individual groups. But the producer still have some other ways of making money such as tie-ups with brands, satellite rights and so on.
Rajinikanth’s last film Kabali was released under the Kalaippuli S Thanu’s marketing strategies. It gained more at some locations. While KS Ravikumar’s Lingaa was sold to Eros International for Rs 120 crore, which suffered a lot. It failed to hit or blockbuster in theatres. Like the same by considering factors around Tamil cinema, Kaala’s maker made a deal with Lyca Production for the same amount.
For Telugu version, the producers are thinking to buy dubbed film for estimated Rs 40 crore. Few producers are come up with the price of Rs 33 crore. But the maker feels that it looks low for Rajinikanth’s film.
As per the source, the budget of Kaala was Rs 75 crore. The movie to be released on April 27 in multiple languages. This is Pa Ranjith’s second film with the Rajinikanth. It contains more political messages than other films which released in recent years.
Kaala teaser was released and it crossed over 25 million in the three languages such as Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. Pankaj Tripathi, Anjali Patil, Huma Qureshi and Samuthirakani in pivotal roles.
